Design Merchants Study Tour: Stockholm

Once the tour hit Stockholm we had definitely hit our stride. The weather in Stockholm had also just changed and was sunny with a real buzz in the air and everyone out of hibernation, filling the shops and restaurants.

Staying just by the water opposite the Royal Palace was spectacular as well as being close to the old town and the main shopping areas. Here we went on walking tours through the back streets getting shown hidden gems and better-known brands alike.

We had presentations from H&M, Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), IKEA, Eriksson and Fillipa K plus many more so were really spoilt with the quality of retailers and their insights.

Here are some of my highlights:

Stockholm Acne Studios
Acne Studios, this flagship store housed in the building that the ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ heist took place in.

Stockholm Old Molly
Old Molly, really effective and on-brand window displays.

Stockholm H&M Mens
H&M Men’s Store, stunning light fitting at the entry.

Stockholm NK
Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), Sweden’s premiere department store.

Stockholm Magnum
Magnum Pop-up inside NK.

Stockholm Mood
Mood Shopping Mall, fun VM touches throughout the mall.

Stockholm Urban Outfitters (1)
Urban Outfitters, housed in a gorgeous old theatre.

Stockholm Nudie Jeans
Nudie Jeans, personality abounds in this cute shop and you can watch jeans being altered in the centre of the store.

Stockholm & Other Stories
& Other Stories, one of the independent brands owned by the H&M group.

Stockholm Bike Store
Bianchi Café & Cycles, a very clever bike/ café concept store.
