A Postcard from Design Merchants

Well it is almost two years ago to the day that the Design Merchants website went live and it has been quite a ride so far. I left Freedom in March 2011 after over 13 years as a Visual Merchandiser and State Visual Merchandising Manager ready for a new business and life adventure. (By the way, for new subscribers, my name is Juliet Borshoff, owner and principal of Design Merchants).

After spending months assembling the text and photos for the website I then handed this over to my (very talented) brother who turned it into the website you now see. Special mention also goes to Brunky who did my logos, which I still love.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately as I am currently working on updating a few areas of the website in particular in the prop hire area which will be launched soon. I have many retail and event clients that I already supply props for in their window displays, photographs and events so this will be an exciting development and I will keep you posted.

I also thought the other day that a lot of people who subscribe to my newsletter might not use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and may have missed out on some of the photos I post. Here are a few of the photos of Molly, my one and a half year old cavoodle & helpful studio assistant, and myself that I took in the process of doing the prop cataloguing.

I can tell you that I should have waited for my human assistant as taking a photo with a dog and a remote shutter release was challenging (but it did make me laugh). Many photos later we decided on a handful of treats and Molly on the cushions as she was much more interested in giving me kisses!
