Christmas Display Trends I Love 2025

I have been in research mode for some time now looking ahead to the coming festive season’s displays and activations. These are my interpretation of the trends I have seen through the lens of someone who has been in the visual merchandising industry for almost 30 years. There are twists on classic Christmas themes and current event trends moving into festive mode.

Festive Drapery

Drapery will go next level this festive season. There really is nothing that you can’t drape in fabric and your imagination is the only limit especially with festive inspiration. We will see draped backdrops, tablescapes, trees, hanging installations and whole activations of draped Christmas perfection.

We already have concepts planned and can’t wait to see what this trend brings this Christmas. I love the reusable nature of the fabrics as well.

Moody Shimmer

I called this trend Moody Shimmer because in all the images that I loved there was a cool, moody vibe to the traditional silver classic Christmas. This will be huge, not only in decorations but in events and table scapes. It also transitions perfectly into New Year styling. Silver tassels, fabrics and beads but with a more bold and sophisticated, en masse treatment.

Bows Galore

The bow trend has been around for a few years now, but I think we will still see this continuing this Christmas. We will still see giant bows in different materials but in general they are becoming smaller and more en masse. I think we will again see an abundance of bow tutorials on TikTok this year because who can resist a new way to tie a bow! This is an easy and effective trend to bring into any festive VM concept, table styling and of course Christmas trees.

Giant Beads & Plaits

Giant beads, tassels and plaits have been emerging as a strong trend and these will be perfect for the party season. This ties into the handmade artisan trend which has been present in high end luxury brands for some years and this is an easy way to add that bespoke handmade element to a concept.

It is also the antithesis of AI imagery and that feeling of seeing and touching something that a talented individual has create cannot be surpassed. Think Anthropolgie window displays, the display artists making props with elements that suit the brand and season.

Beaded Nostalgia

With the world feeling crazy right now, it is no surprise that Nostalgia has been a trend for Christmas styling and this will continue this year. It is of course a twist on the traditional Christmas theming and decorations but tends to be more in the pastel colour palette with an abundance of beaded garlands. The warmth and glow of memories of Christmases of the past, even if it’s just from nostalgic Christmas movies and imagery. This has a maximalist, vintage / mid-century vibe but with a modern twist. It is also a personal favourite of mine being a fan of Mid-Century styles.

Fabric & Abstract Wreaths

Wreaths are a Christmas classic but are becoming more abstract and artistic. Florists, stylists and visual merchandisers have been creating new and exciting styles of wreaths whether with fabric, florals or repurposed materials. I am seeing a lot of velvet in Christmas styling but in wreaths this is huge. The lush nature of this and the feeling of warmth go hand in hand with Christmas.

Organic & Mossy

Moss, greenery and pine branches is a favourite trend. This can go from being modern to rustic or Scandi. It is also on the most part a plastic-free Christmas with an emphasis on recycled, compostable and natural materials. The creativity of repurposing and the focus on sustainable materials is also a bonus.
